Your library is yours.

Short version. 4789 requires no account. Library and watch state are stored on your device. The app has no advertising SDK and does not sell personal data. Services you connect still receive the requests you make through them.

No 4789 account

You do not create an account with 4789 to use the app. The public iPhone build stores its library, watch history, settings, and connected-service list on the device.

Settings export

You can deliberately export a portable settings file through the system share sheet and save it in Files, iCloud Drive, or another location you control. The file can contain live credentials, tokens, passwords, and private URLs. Protect it like a password and share it only with a device you trust. Importing it updates supported settings on another installation.

Credentials

Credentials entered in the Apple app are stored in the system Keychain. A compatible manifest or install URL can itself contain private access information. 4789 does not write full credentials to diagnostic logs, but a deliberate settings export can include them.

Requests to connected services

When you browse, search, play, download, or refresh metadata, the app makes requests from your device to the services and public metadata providers involved in that action. Those operators receive the normal technical information required to answer a network request and apply their own privacy policies. 4789 does not claim that connected-service traffic stays entirely on the device.

Local receiver traffic

Receiver discovery and control use the local network. A supported television receiver can receive title, artwork, playback state, and stream information needed for the action you started. Some local media is relayed from the phone so the receiver can play it without receiving the original credential.

Optional features

Some features can connect to additional services for ratings, lists, metadata, or assisted ranking. They remain inactive until their required configuration is provided. When enabled, relevant requests go to the selected service under its terms.

This website

The website is delivered by Cloudflare, which processes network information such as IP addresses to deliver pages and prevent abuse. Some technical documentation pages may record anonymous, cookie-free events such as a page view or completed tour. The public product pages do not use advertising cookies or behavioral profiling.

Children

4789 is a general-audience media utility and is not directed to children.
