4789 for iPhone

1.0.0 beta 2 · public beta

  • An 18th place to look. The Black Hole Bay joins the sources 4789 can search, with steadier parsing and an arrival log sorted by how much each source actually found.
  • Casting looks like the film. The now-playing screen pulls several colours out of the artwork, and the progress bar takes its colour from them.
  • Media servers, live. Your Plex and Jellyfin servers show their real state in Settings, add-ons show their own logos, and the Letterboxd card was redesigned.
  • Deep links into Settings. Help articles now open the exact screen they describe instead of the top of Settings.
  • The iPod opens faster, and the U2 edition got its back face and click wheel redrawn from the real thing.
  • Sending 4789 TV to your television over Wi-Fi was re-tested on real hardware, with a fix for an install that could stall.

1.0.0 beta 1 · public beta

  • Settings, rebuilt. One cell style everywhere, grey group labels, no borders on dark canvases. Settings follow the Look you pick: Themed, Slate, Pitch Black, or White.
  • Accounts & keys in one place. TorBox, Real-Debrid, Trakt, Letterboxd, MDBList, TMDB, Gemini and YouTube each have one screen: paste a key, test it, see where to get one, disconnect.
  • Nothing is required. Every account is optional. Unconnected rows say “Connect” or “Get a key”, never “missing”.
  • Search in plain words. With a free Gemini key, type what you feel like watching as a sentence.
  • Help & FAQ now mirrors these guides, one short card per screen, each linking to the long version here.
  • How casting works is a short illustrated screen under TV & devices.
  • Back up & downloads. Export and import your setup, pick where downloads go, mirror upcoming episodes into Apple Calendar.

4789 TV

0.1.42 · compatibility build

  • The remote no longer stops working. Pressing down while a shelf was still loading could leave the app with nothing selected. No direction, no select, not even back. Fixed.
  • Your shelves appear about five seconds sooner. The TV used to read its whole saved library before it could draw anything. It now reads a small copy of just the shelf you are looking at first.
  • The artwork keeps up with you. Moving along a row used to leave the big title, description and picture stuck on the first poster.
  • Films look like films. Titles whose catalogue row carried only a portrait poster now get their real wide artwork, so the top of the screen stops showing a stretched poster.
  • Scores on the title page. IMDb, TMDB, Trakt and more, where they exist. Nothing is shown when a title has none.
  • Shelves appear as they arrive instead of waiting for the slowest one. On a large library that is several seconds sooner.
  • The row glides to the poster you moved to, rather than jumping a card at a time, and a held remote button is paced so it stops flooding the screen.
  • Posters are remembered between sessions, so returning to the app redraws instantly instead of downloading everything again. A poster that fails once is retried rather than staying blank.
  • Something now shows while artwork loads, and a poster fades in instead of popping.
  • Artwork is drawn at full colour depth, which removes banding on dark posters.
  • Settings sent from your phone take effect immediately. Before, new add-ons or keys sat unused until the app was restarted.
  • One slow add-on can no longer hold up the rest. Sources appear once the ones that answered are in.
  • Small print on top of artwork is readable again.
  • Removes owner-specific defaults from the public archive. Every address is entered on your own network.
