Guides
Watch it work. Then set it up.
Two complete walkthroughs recorded from the actual app, plus a plain-English guide to every setting and where each key comes from.
01 · Full tour
From a public list to pressing play.
Ten chapters: Home, lists, browsing, the title page, cast and discussions, viewer comments, source comparison, quick play, the player, and subtitles. Every screen is dragged through in full.
Actual source availability comes from your connected services. Player chapters are shown on paused frames.
02 · Setup walkthrough
Set up in minutes. Connect. Validate. Play.
The two connections that shape your first session, the masked key flow with one-tap validation, and the moment sources appear.
Keys are stored on your device and stay masked on screen. Actual source availability comes from your connected services.
03 · Every setting
The settings guide.
What each section does, in the order the app shows them.
Settings hub · status pills and grouped options
Live status pills. The top of Settings gives an instant read of your setup: active playback provider (e.g. Plays via TorBox), total installed source count, and app release version.
Grouped by purpose. Settings is structured into two clean tiers: Set up (Accounts & keys, Sources, Playback, Look, TV & devices) and Your data (Backup & downloads, Advanced). Settings opens as a sheet from the global action wheel — keeping the two top-level doors clean.
Sources · manifests, catalogs, and media servers
Everything providing playable streams or browsable titles lives here. Paste a Stremio add-on manifest (manifest.json or stremio://) under Add a source to instantly populate scrapers. Reorder or toggle catalogs, configure Letterboxd shelves, connect subtitle providers, and link personal media servers (Plex, Jellyfin, Emby, WebDAV, Google Drive).
Accounts & keys · Play, Track & rate, Optional
Provider credentials are organized into three clear tiers: Play (TorBox, Real-Debrid), Track & rate (Trakt, Letterboxd, MDBList), and Optional (TMDB artwork, Gemini AI, YouTube, Bitsearch). Every secret is masked on screen and stored only in the secure iOS Keychain — never on any 4789 server. Test key validates connectivity instantly without exposing tokens.
Look · canvas backgrounds, 20 film icons, and ratings
Personalize the app’s aesthetics without touching playback logic. Choose between Canvas themes (Themed, Slate, Pitch Black, White, or custom photo), select from 20 bespoke film-themed app icons, and toggle audience rating badges on or off. Metadata enrichment accounts (TMDB, MDBList, Trakt) live under Accounts & keys.
Playback · picking rules, player selection, and audio
Configure how 4789 selects the best stream when tapping quick play: set resolution and format preferences, choose your media player, enable autoplay for series episodes, match sources automatically to your TV capabilities, and define preferred audio and subtitle languages.

Letterboxd & public lists · shelves on Home
Public lists become interactive shelves on your Home screen. Add Letterboxd user profiles or list URLs in Sources ➔ Letterboxd Lists to display up to five shelves, choose their sort order, or import public lists found through MDBList search. No account is required for public lists.
TV & devices · Wi-Fi install, send setup, casting
Connect and manage television screens directly from TV & devices. The fastest, fail-safe route to get the TV app is entering Downloader code 5873252 (or typing 4789library.com/tv) on your television. Alternatively, install wirelessly straight from your phone over local Wi-Fi via built-in ADB sideloading (requires ADB debugging turned ON on the TV and accepting the remote prompt). Once installed, beam your active accounts and keys to your TV receiver with one tap, and manage casting destinations.
Your data · backup & downloads, calendar sync
Export settings. Settings → Backup & downloads → Export settings opens the iOS share sheet. Save the file to Files, iCloud Drive, or any location you control. Saving to iCloud Drive keeps a copy available to your other devices; 4789 has no server account and does not sync settings secretly.
Import settings. On a new phone or fresh install, Settings → Backup & downloads → Import settings, then select your saved settings file (or paste its text). Your sources, accounts, and preferences restore in one step.
Downloads folder & Calendar. Choose where offline downloads are stored on your device, or enable Apple Calendar sync to automatically mirror upcoming episode airings directly to your calendar.
Protect the file. The export file can contain live keys and private manifest URLs — treat it like a password. It does not include downloaded media files.
Advanced · diagnostics, source health, and frame meter
Under Advanced, inspect live system logs, check source health across all connected providers, review your last search funnel, or enable the live frame meter and verbose logging when troubleshooting or filing an issue.
04 · Find anything

- No sources appear: confirm the playback service key tested green and the title is available on your services.
- Catalog stays empty: re-check the manifest URL and your connection.
- Do not post an API key, token, or private manifest URL when asking for help.
